McCulloch County Issues Local Disaster Declaration and Burn Ban Due to Wildfire Threat
McCulloch County Judge Frank Trull has issued a Declaration of Local Disaster Related to Wildfires effective October 17, 2025, citing extreme drought conditions and an elevated risk of wildfire throughout the county.
The declaration, filed with McCulloch County Clerk Christine A. Jones, prohibits the use of all combustible materials outdoors, including any form of outdoor burning or activities that could result in a fire. The order is intended to protect lives and property amid ongoing hot, dry weather and worsening drought conditions.
“This declaration allows us to take immediate action to prevent a potentially devastating wildfire,” Judge Trull stated. “We ask all residents to take this seriously and comply fully until conditions improve.”
The local disaster declaration will remain in effect for seven days unless extended by the McCulloch County Commissioners Court. Violations of the order are considered a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500, or under state emergency authority, by a fine of up to $1,000 and/or 180 days in jail.
Residents are urged to avoid any outdoor activities that could create sparks or open flames and to report any signs of wildfire immediately to local authorities.
A full copy of the signed proclamation is available through the McCulloch County Clerk’s Office.
