Behold! You are witnessing tectonic shifts of rhythmical proportions. Robert Ray has (unbeknownst to anyone besides his multiple personalities) transcended the boundaries of time and space (metaphorically speaking, he modestly claims). And, in his wake, he has left behind a vapid culture, one that was devoid of soul and yearning to be unfree. Even after so many years - with countless bright moments and, to be sure, our fair share of down times as well - I feel compelled to say how impressed I continue to be of this album that Jen wrote and performed along with her excellent band, Rabbi & The Popes. I'd probably say that track #5, "Sarah's Song," is my favorite these days. I'm very proud of you Jen, and feel privileged myself to have been a part of the writing and making of this album. Man, the things I would do to get back in that studio in the Tenderloin. I don't think we knew how good we had it. I'm about 95% certain that Stevie Nicks used the exact same Nuemann U-87 as we did in that bloc recording session. So, basically, we both made out with Stevie Nicks. Awesome.

Robert Ray at LeftField in SoHo NYC. Killed as usual. Shoes were literally catching fire from the ferocity of people's dancing. It didn't matter - nothing would stop them. It was as if they were possessed, completely overcome by the groove.

Damn, we've got one hell of an A&R team! This is an early photo of the legendary and incomparable jazz pianist and singer, Toby Bruce. Later, Toby became the third Boss of Arson Records Music Group. In fact, he was instrumental (pun fully intended) in merging the publishing and recording/distribution divisions into one (extremely profitable) label packed with talent, and one multi-platinum success after another. Those were the heady years of excess and brilliance, colliding as they often do, and creating recordings that belong to the ages. Sadly, Toby died in a car accident while driving in one of his beloved convertibles on a sunny morning in June 2015.
