The Toyota 410 sprint car engine has captured the attention of racing enthusiasts. Can this engine lead a team to victory in the World of Outlaw championship? Unfortunately, the 83 Roth Motorsports team, using this engine, encountered issues on Night 1 and had to spend valuable time under the hood early in the night. This can put a team at a disadvantage in terms of chassis set-up, especially at this level! The more time spent on engine issues the less time you have to work on the set-up or watch changing track conditions ect. In the past, some teams have experienced problems with the crankshaft, such as bending and bearing issues. To address this, some teams opted for Callies Performance Products crankshafts. There were also reports of challenges in sealing the heads, which can impact engine performance and reliability. Developing a durable and robust sprint car engine for high-powered winged sprint races is crucial, as these engines undergo significant stress. Toyota has already dominated midget racing and now aims for the same success in 410 racing. While the engine has proven its ability to win races, the question remains whether it is ready to provide the consistency and reliability needed to tackle the demanding Outlaw schedule. Many believe driver of the 83 Roth Motorsports car Buddy Kofoid can be a top 5 contender if they can minimize (DNFS). Buddy & the 83 team did bounce back on night 2 finishing 9th but struggled on night 3 to advance from their 17th place starting spot. Kofoid closed out the Gators Nationals with a strong run transferring out of the heat, making the dash, and getting the 83 car their first top 5 of the year! If you can do that every night with the greatest show on dirt you will put yourself in position to win a Woo championship. Roth will utilize the Toyota engine with James McFadden on the High Limits Racing Tour in 2024 as well.
