Each year, Rebecca Wolf and her team at Brandon High School partner with Make-A-Wish Mississippi to host a pep rally that raises funds for a Brandon student living with cancer. This year’s wish recipient is Brayden Doyle, an incredible 11-year-old and bright 6th grader at Brandon Middle School.

Brayden was diagnosed with autism at just one year old, and in November 2024 he was also diagnosed with malignant melanoma of the scalp and neck. Despite these challenges, Brayden continues to shine in his everyday life. He loves playing Roblox, riding his scooter, and spending time outdoors with his niece and neighbors. His playful spirit and resilience bring joy to everyone around him.

Brayden’s one true wish is to visit Walt Disney World so he can experience the magic, adventure, and fun with his family by his side.

Each year, the goal is to surpass the amount raised in previous years—and as always, the Brandon students showed up in a big way. This year, they raised an incredible $8,278.17 to help make Brayden’s wish come true.

Although Brayden wasn’t able to attend the pep rally, the teachers, principals, and students put on an incredibly entertaining event. From the teachers vs. students basketball game, the Minute-to-Win-It challenges to performances by the cheerleaders, dancers, and drumline, and the principals crazy costume contest, the energy in the gym was amazing. The event was expertly led by the wonderful MC, Emily Hildebrand, and the pep rally was truly a huge success.

We know so many people in Brandon have ties to Simpson County and Starkville, so we wanted to share this here too!

We have copies of Hometown Simpson and Hometown Starkville available at our office if anyone would like to come by and pick one up. We’d love for you to grab one for yourself or for a friend.

It’s here!!! The very first edition of Hometown Simpson has officially arrived, and we couldn’t be more excited.

This launch truly took a team effort. Even though our entire team isn’t pictured, this milestone belongs to every single person who helped bring it to life. It really does take all of us, and we are so proud of what we’ve created together for Simpson County.

Even though today is a holiday, we’ll be delivering to the businesses that are open, and we’ll continue deliveries tomorrow as well. You can grab a copy at the courthouse, local schools, and most restaurants and stores throughout the county.

Be sure to pick up yours soon! We can’t wait for you to see it!

The Brandon High School Library was dedicated to General Louis H. Wilson Jr., today, November 10, 2025.
He was chosen for not only his exceptional leadership in the USMC, but he received the Medal of Honor, led the 26th Commandant of the Marine Corps, and he was also from Brandon High Class of 1937.
It was such an honor to have Janet Wilson Taylor in attendance as well!
