Good morning! We've made it to Friday and we'll have a fairly decent day across our area. We'll see some cloudiness through part of the day and more sunshine through the rest. Highs today should top out in the low 70s with NW winds 5 to 15 Mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy skies expected with overnight lows in the low to mid 40s.

Looking ahead to our weekend, holds partly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s for Saturday.
Sunday: Big time drop in temperatures across the area thanks to a cold front that moved over the area on Saturday. High temperatures will only make it into the low 40s and with gusty NW winds, it feel more like upper teens to possibly low 20s. I would not be surprised if a Freeze Watch or Warning is issued Sunday night and Monday night. I'll keep an eye on that and update with any new info.

Although we had a mixture of sun and cloudiness today, our temperatures around the area turned out pretty comfortable topping out in the low 70s.

Currently in Branson, it's 58° under partly cloudy skies for our bedtime weather.

Overnight: Partly to mostly cloudy skies expected with lows in the mid 50s.

Another cold front moves over the area on Saturday, but we won't really feel the effects of it until Sunday as highs Sunday & Monday only top out in the low 40s. Winds will be quite blustery in Sunday making temperatures feel more like the low 20s. We'll keep an eye open to see if a Freeze Watch or Warning gets issued for both Sunday & Monday nights.

This morning, at approximately 9:28 a.m., Branson Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Cliff Drive and Pocahontas Street after work crews reported discovering what appeared to be a human bone while excavating for water main access.

The bone was located in a trench several feet below the surface, at the depth of the original Cliff Drive roadway constructed in the 1960s.

Upon arrival, officers secured the area and contacted the Taney County Coroner who responded to the scene. The coroner consulted with an anthropologist from the University of Missouri, who later determined the bone was not human. It was identified as the leg bone of a large, hoofed animal, such as a horse or cow.
Following this determination, the scene was cleared and water main repair work resumed.

We appreciate the cooperation of the construction crews and the assistance of the Taney County Coroner’s Office during this investigation.

Cold winter weather will be here before we know and local experts are urging Ozarks drivers to perform essential maintenance to winterize their vehicles. The unpredictable mix of cold snaps and hilly terrain in Southern Missouri makes winter driving particularly challenging, and proactive checks are the best defense against being stranded in the cold.
