Waking up to these different breeds of purebred chicks is always a great way to start a Sunday afternoon. So far we see some beautiful silkies that are white with orange highlights we absolutely love they remind us of our OG silky we lost last year her name was Sunny she was the sweetest ! We def will be keeping those lol , also we had another surprise chick that is a grey showgirl that one is only the second one we have ever had hatch !! Then last but not least our Serama’s are FINALLY fertile I have 2 hatched so far in this small hatch and there was one in the last ! The eggs are still hatching so we will see what else pops out today ! 🤗✝️🩷💙🐣

Next Corturnix quail batch going into the incubator ! For us Corturnix is definitely the best type of quail to get for our homestead as they serve multiple uses and are inexpensive to raise . We love their calm demeanor as well ! Here is also some new babies we just hatched just chillin 😎 with the new baby silkies and a bonus little Serama we hatched that was a surprise@! I wished I would have got a photo of the last Corturnix hatch as we actually had an egg that had 2 fully developed quail in one egg !!! That is extremely rare.

Just a little weekend late update of our life on our tiny farm update ! Nightlife homesteading is sometimes my fav ! Was able to get some veggies and fruit planted for a little garden in the fall . Sweet corn 🌽, okra , mustard greens 🥬, kale, beans 🫘, beets, watermelon 🍉, this week will finish up with some butternut squash, potatoes 🥔, and colored carrots 🥕 which I’m pretty excited about !

Getting ready to plant this garden for the fall ! 🎃 . Always my fav time of the year ! I still need to add the organic fertilizer in and mix it in the rows then time for those seedlings ! Should be able to get this done when I get off my job today ! I can not wait to see if it does well ! I must say I have gotten my money’s worth with this little electric tiller .
