🚧 Traffic Alert – Mile-Long Bridge Maintenance 🚧

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has notified us that on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Mile-Long Bridge on U.S. Highway 180 West, which crosses Hubbard Creek Reservoir, will be reduced to one lane for scheduled maintenance.

🕘 Time: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
⚠️ Expect delays and use caution when traveling through the area.
🚗 Consider an alternate route if possible to avoid congestion.

This is a TxDOT project, and Stephens County has no control over the schedule or lane closures. We’re sharing this update to help keep our residents informed and safe.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Traffic Alert – Temporary Closure at Walker and Court

During the recent storms, a transformer and powerline that powered the traffic light at Walker Street and Court Street were damaged. This system only powered the traffic control device, so repairs fall under the Texas Department of Transportation, not Oncor.

Because drivers were not adhering to the temporary four-way stop setup — and due to the added risk created by the double lanes on Walker — Court Street has been temporarily closed at both the north and south ends where it intersects Walker.

Repairs will take several days. In the meantime, the intersection is uncontrolled, meaning traffic on Walker is moving east and west without stopping. There are no stop signs or signals currently in place.

Please use caution when traveling through the area, and thank you for your cooperation as TxDOT works to restore the traffic signal.

Traffic Alert – US 183 N (Breckenridge Ave.) Lane Change

Drivers in Stephens County, please be advised of a significant traffic pattern change on US Highway 183 North.

Northbound and southbound traffic is now being routed to the east side of the highway, with one lane in each direction. This is a change from the prior setup on the west side of the road. Given the long delay in the project, many drivers may be used to traveling on the old pattern.

Please use extra caution, slow down, and stay alert to signs, cones, and crews in the area. Thank you for your patience as the paving work continues.
