Breckenridge Texan The Breckenridge Texan is an online news site covering the community of Breckenridge and Stephens County, Texas, and the surrounding area.

The Breckenridge Texan was founded in August 2017 by Breckenridge journalists Tony Pilkington and Carla McKeown. They drew on the input of many other local citizens when planning the website and its contents. The Breckenridge Texan will provide current news, entertainment and sports information. Pilkington and McKeown have extensive media experience, including daily, semi-weekly and weekly newspap

ers, blogs, websites and radio. Before moving to Breckenridge in 2002, the husband and wife published Lubbock Magazine, a monthly arts and entertainment publication. They also have freelanced for publications including Texas Highways, the New York Times, the Dallas Morning News, the Houston Chronicle, the Associated Press and many others. They look forward to continuing their journalism careers by providing Breckenridge, Texas, with the best news site possible.

A Colorado City man died early Saturday morning, July 19, when the boat he was operating crashed into Goat Island on Hubbard Creek Lake, according to Game Warden Clif Westbrook with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
