Although we're already a week into December, I want to share this monthly feature page from the 2025 planner. I love how the deep charcoal background worked on this one and hope to do more moody illustrations like this soon.
I'm getting some good use out of this handy planner today. There are lots of business & household tasks to complete on this Frosty Monday!

Yesterday I tried to share my 2025 Favorite Gifts from , but I didn't realize the collection was private, so it caused some trouble. I wanted to give you a little background story on why my new stationery subscription service is called "Silverpenny Post." When we moved to our little cottage in the country, within a stone's throw of my childhood home, there was money plant growing with abandon all over the yard.
In the spring dark purple blooms sprout along its tall stalk with toothy triangular leaves, and then the green seed pods form when those fade. At full size the pods dry out and take on the form shown here, dropping seeds as the wind blows the husks away in the fall & winter.
I used to daydream about what I'd name a home studio, searching for other common names for the plant, and I loved the sound of "silverpenny" when I discovered it. Alas there was another creative business out there called Silverpenny Studio, and I never got to set up shop at home, so I left the idea in my treasure box of mental notes.
When I decided to create the snail mail club, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to bring it out and let it shine!

Five years ago today I took this photo in my studio. It was one of my very first days of moving in, and I didn't really know where it all would lead. I'm so grateful for this amazing space to paint and pack and stash and make a giant mess and walk away!
However, I tell everyone that I try to hold it very loosely. The Lord giveth and he taketh away, but I have learned that it always turns out ok. This art journey is ever changing, and I'm still inspired to keep going wherever He may lead. I hope you're enjoying following along! I'm looking forward to creating some beautiful things here in 2026!

Art break! Hope this image gives you a welcome pause between all the aggressive commercial posts assaulting your feed today. We're having a little break in between snow squals this morning, and the sun is shining brightly. Here's a bit of a Southern-style Christmas painting for you - a pretty little chickadee sitting atop a swag of magnolia & mistletoe. Mistletoe is one of my favorite plants, because of its shape and dainty little pearl-like berries. I wish we had it growing here.

Hope you all found much to be thankful for today. I'm grateful for my girl being home with us, the health of our family, plates of delicious food made with love, shared laughs and this creative life I get to enjoy every day! Thank you, Lord, for your grace and provision!
