This morning I went straight away to the studio to do some cleaning instead of my usual journaling & devotionals. It was good to get my body moving and put things in order (and get rid of all those horrid flies that are spending their last days in our spaces. Ugh!) I even sat down and worked for an hour or so on a commission I'd been putting off for months.
Now I'm sitting down to my writing and my Bible with a cup of tea. The sun is shining brightly this crisp afternoon, there's a fresh pumpkin cake on the countertop, and the beans are coming in across the road. Fall is here!

I've been feeling a bit unwell today, so I've given myself the day off from art biz stuff and just focused on puttering in earnest.
This was my main project for the day, other than the nap I'm planning 😄. I put a new tablecloth on the dining room table (I'll link in my stories), and filled an old wooden bowl I have with a bunch of the white gourds I've been growing in my backyard. They're nestled around the most lovely "sweet tea" scented candle from . Then I took a little walk down the road to snip some bittersweet to tuck in the gaps. Growing the gourds has been so much fun, even though they took over the yard & garden. There are like a dozen different varieties out there - all random hybrids of the leftovers from last year's visit to the pumpkin patch. It's like an Autumn egg hunt! 😄 The weather here in the Great Lakes is so gorgeous this week! I hope you're enjoying this start to fall as well!

Fall decorating is happening in the house very slowly. Remember that art doesn't have to always hang on the wall. I don't accept the "I don't have any more wall space" excuse from customers anymore. 😄😄😄

I'd really love for this little painting to find a home before fall, so it can be enjoyed through the season. Robin's Nest did a beautiful job of custom framing it. Original watercolor- 11"x12.5" finished size. $205. Private message me for invoicing/pickup details.

It's Monday, and I'm feeling optimistic about the week ahead. I spent a little while bird watching this morning, now I'm going to feed the sourdough starter, make some granola and head into the studio to digitize some Christmas drawings.
I was gifted these sweet little earrings from my friend, Debbie (.swihart_ ) at a market this past weekend, so I'll be wearing those today. The beautiful cotton woven towel was a find there as well to bring some texture & color to the kitchen. Cheers to a happy handmade life! What is something you're making this week?
