The Washington County Little League won the opening game of the Texas East Minor softball state tournament in Rosenberg Friday, defeating East End 12-0 in four innings.
The county all-stars advance to the winner's bracket of the tournament to take on the winner of today's Industrial/Lumberton matchup at 8 p.m. tomorrow.

Washington County’s Minor division softball all-stars have arrived at the Texas East state tournament in Rosenberg. Games are scheduled throughout the weekend, beginning today (Friday) at 6 p.m.

State Senator Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) visited the Republican Club of Washington County on Tuesday evening and discussed the Texas 89th Legislature's regular session, which wrapped up last month.
She summarized her accomplishments during the session and discussed a variety of subjects, including teacher pay, border security and health care.

The Brenham Youth Football League conducted the first day of its two-day combine Tuesday evening at Cub Stadium. Participants ran through agility and positional drills conducted by coaches during a two-hour session.
Participants also got their uniform sizes for the upcoming season with the help of BYFL coaches and administrators, including first-year president Alan Mable.

The Washington County Little League Minor softball all-stars defeated Smithville 11-0 in Bastrop on Thursday to claim the Texas East Section 1 championship.
Thursday’s game was a continuation from Wednesday night after weather delays in Elgin.
Washington County advances to the Texas East state tournament next weekend in Rosenburg.

Game 2 of the Texas East Section 1 Minor softball tournament between Washington County and Smithville was postponed to Thursday. Washington County held a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second and the game will resume where it left off.
Elsewhere, the WCLL 11-year-old baseball all-stars fell to Lufkin 5-1 in the winner's bracket of its sectional tournament. They will play again Thursday for a place in the finals.

The Washington County Little League Minor softball all-stars won Game 1 of the Texas East Section 1 tournament Tuesday, defeating Smithville 8-0.
Kinsley Haferkamp struck out 18 hitters, setting her team up to win the sectional title tomorrow evening with a win.

The Washington County Minor division baseball all-stars fell to Grimes County 10-1 on Wednesday in the Texas East District 13 championship game.
Washington County went 8-2 in the tournament, playing more games (10) and earning more wins (8) than anyone in the district tournament.

The Washington County Minor division baseball all-stars won Game 1 of the Texas East District 13 finals against Grimes County 3-0 on Tuesday at Linda Anderson Park.
Washington County and Grimes County will meet again Wednesday for the district championship and a spot in the Texas East Section 1 tournament.
