When one woman in our community is facing an overwhelming hardship, even a small act of kindness can remind her that she does not have to walk through it alone.

The Helping One Woman (HOW) Discovery Bay Chapter has selected Patricia Barreda Lo-Piano as its honored recipient. Patricia’s husband is battling aggressive throat cancer, and she has remained faithfully by his side as his primary advocate, caregiver, and source of strength.

A serious cancer diagnosis affects every part of a family’s life. Along with the emotional and physical toll come medical appointments, treatments, travel, missed work, household expenses, and countless unexpected financial burdens. Patricia has devoted herself to supporting her husband through this difficult journey. Now, we have an opportunity to support her.

Helping One Woman is a nationwide 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with local chapters that bring communities together to restore hope to women experiencing difficult circumstances. Please note that contributions made specifically for Patricia are considered personal gifts to the recipient and are not tax-deductible, even though Helping One Woman is a nonprofit organization.

Your business may participate by:

• Making a monetary gift in any amount
• Providing a gift card, product, or service for the event drawing
