This National First Responders Day, we are proud to recognize the City and County first responders who keep our community safe!

We are grateful to the dedicated Brevard Fire Department firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, Brevard Police Department NC officers, Transylvania Co. Sheriff's Office deputies, Transylvania County Rescue Squad volunteers, and 911 dispatchers who always step up when we need them the most. We hope you'll join us in thanking them for their service!

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a shooting on Thursday, Oct. 23, that left one person injured.

Please note that the following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic for the festival:

6 a.m. - approximately 6:00 p.m.
• Main Street from Caldwell Street to Rice Street
• Broad Street from Probart Street to Morgan Street
• Jordan Street from Caldwell Street to Gaston Street
• Gaston Street from Jordan Street to the Gaston Parking Lot
• Johnson Street from Jordan Street to Main Street

6 a.m. - approximately midnight

Chase Owen has been named the new fire chief and is set to take the position on Nov. 10, according to a press release from the city of Brevard.

🔥 BIG NEWS: Chase Owen has been named Chief of the Brevard Fire Department!

He will replace Interim Chief Bradley Elmore on November 10, 2025. Elmore has been serving in the interim capacity since March, when he replaced retiring chief Robert Cooper.

Owen is currently the volunteer fire chief of Connestee Fire Rescue and the full-time operations captain with the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office. He has also maintained part-time firefighter status with the Brevard Fire Department during his time at Connestee and TCSO.

Please join us in congratulating Chase and welcoming him to his new post at BFD!
