Dear Patrol Family,

Today, on National Peace Officers Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the people of our nation.

Since the founding of our agency almost 97 years ago, 72 members of the North Carolina State have died in the line of duty. Their courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten. This year alone, we mourn the loss of Trooper Stien Davis and Trooper Steven Perry, whose service and sacrifice remind us of the risks our law enforcement officers face every day.

Behind every badge is a commitment to serve with integrity, professionalism, and honor. Behind every fallen trooper is a family, a community, and a Patrol family that continue to carry their memory forward.

As we observe this solemn day, I ask each of you to take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by our fallen heroes and to keep their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. May we continue to honor their legacy through our service, our conduct, and our dedication to the mission of protecting the citizens of this state.
