Keep these grilling safety tips in mind:
🇺🇸Wash hands before and after handling raw meat.
🇺🇸 Marinate in the fridge, never on the counter.
🇺🇸 Use separate plates and utensils for raw and cooked foods.

What a Friday well spent at the Escambia County Alabama Extension Office & the Garden to Pantry-Herbs Event!! Participants enjoyed a hands-on workshop where we:
🪴 Planted fresh herbs
🛠️ Built our own herb drying racks
🧂 Created flavorful low-sodium herbal spice blends

It was the perfect kickoff to a weekend full of fresh ideas and even fresher herbs! A huge thank you to Carmen and Rebecca for bringing their knowledge and passion for homegrown wellness to our community.

We’re already looking forward to the next workshop! 🌱💚

As we get ready to celebrate the 4th of July this week…..let’s all take a moment to review these important safety tips!!!🔥🚒

🎆🇺🇸🚒4th of July Safety Tips from Brewton Fire Department 🇺🇸🔥🚒

As we gear up to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, cookouts, and family fun, the Brewton Fire Department wants to remind everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

đźš« Fireworks Reminder:

‼️ It is ILLEGAL to shoot fireworks inside the Brewton City Limits.
Please help us keep our neighborhoods safe and avoid unnecessary fires or injuries.

🎇 Fireworks Safety Tips (Outside City Limits):
• Attend public displays like (East Brewton) — they’re safer and spectacular! Good viewing places can be found around Fort Crawford Park in East Brewton and on side streets and parking areas around Murder Creek. Fireworks are scheduled for a 9:30 p.m. start.
• Never allow children to play with fireworks, including sparklers.
• Keep water nearby, like a bucket or hose.
• Never relight a “dud.” Wait 20 minutes and soak it in water.
• Light one at a time, and move back quickly.

🍔 Outdoor Grilling Tips:
• Grill outdoors only, and never leave it unattended.
• Keep your grill clean of grease or fat buildup.
• Keep kids and pets at least 3 feet from the grill.
• Check propane grills for leaks before lighting.
• Dispose of coals properly — soak in water before discarding in a metal container.

Let’s all do our part to have a safe and fire-free 4th of July here in Brewton. If you have an emergency, call 911 immediately.

From your firefighter’s at the Brewton Fire Department — stay safe and celebrate smart! 🇺🇸

I’m orange inside and grow in the dirt,
I’m sweet when baked and won’t hurt your shirt.
Mashed or roasted, I’m full of delight—
Guess this veggie that’s just right!
