For our second installment of the “No Cuts” series, we bring you “Touch of Evil” from 1958
This was a loose adaptation of the book by Whit Masterson “Badge of Evil”, debuting 2 years prior. A classic Noir Thriller with an (almost) 4 minute no cut opening sequence, it is considered one of the best examples of continuous shot openings in a time long before steadicams
With direction and screenplay by Orson Welles, he also stars alongside Janet Leigh and Charlton Heston
The (almost) comes in to play at roughly 3:27 with a split second cut to a car explosion on the US-Mexico border, that sets this story in motion
Produced by Albert Zugsmith and shot by juggernaut cinematographer Russell Metty, “Touch of Evil” made it on our list for greatest “no cuts” of all time
