Somerset County Park Commission The Somerset County park system consists of 24 park areas and several areas of reserved land totaling 14,780 acres.

This includes General Use Parks, Golf Courses, Special Use Parks, Developed Natural Area Parks, and Undeveloped Natural Areas. The Park Commission has established a tradition of
providing quality and unique programs. Therapeutic Recreation provides year round activities and events for children and adults with developmental disabilities, as well as a summer camp for children who have a learning dis

ability or Aspergers Syndrome. Environmental Education offers programs focusing on local environmental issues, archeology, outdoor education, and bringing nature to children of all ages. Lessons and clinics are offered at many of the facilities, aimed at introducing people to a variety of recreation skills. Special events are also conducted by the Park Commission. The most known of these include the Free Summer Concert Series, the Fourth of July Family Festival, the 1770s Festival, and the Golf Tournaments. Twenty others are also held each year, each with its own distinctive focus. We invite you to examine the events, programs, and facilities listed within.

Looking for a fun family afternoon this Sunday? Come visit the Stable at Lord Stirling Park for an Open House Co-Hosted with Rocking Horse Rehab! 🐴🍦

Join us September 13 from 12–2 p.m. and enjoy barn tours, hayrides, ice cream, horse meet-and-greets, and pony grooming! 🐎

You can also learn more about Rocking Horse Rehab and their equine-assisted and traditional therapy programs for children and young adults with special needs.

Experience the thrill and joy of horseback riding this Fall at the Stable at Lord Stirling Park with our Junior and Adult Lessons! 🍂🐎 Both classes will have 2 available sessions; each session includes 5 weekly lessons taught by our friendly and qualified instructors!

Session 1: September 15 – October 15 | Registration opens September 3

Session 2: October 20 – November 19 | Registration opens September 28

Group Adult English Lessons:
- Available Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am
- $325 for 5 group weekly lessons
- Experienced riders only, Must complete a prerequisite riding evaluation before registering
- Ages 18+, Under 200lbs

Private Junior English Lessons:
- Available Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4, 5, and 6 pm
- $400 for 5 private weekly lessons
- No prior experience required
- Ages 9-17, Under 190lbs

Look what slithered it's way into our Therapeutic Recreation's Summer Connect Program at North Branch Park! 🐍🐊

Last Thursday Rizzo’s Wildlife Adventure brought some amazing animals including snakes, lizards, ferrets, and more. Everyone enjoyed learning about these unique critters and those that were brave enough were able to touch them too! It’s programs like these that give our Therapeutic Recreation participants a fun chance to experience something new.
