NJDOT to Begin Dredging Brigantine Back Bays

The City of Brigantine has been working for many years, alongside Senator Vince Polistina, to address ongoing navigation issues in the back bay waterways behind Brigantine. Over time, several of these channels have filled in with sediment, making them difficult to navigate, particularly at low tide.

After years of discussion and evaluation, the New Jersey Department of Transportation has agreed to move forward with dredging a portion of the back bay channels. This marks an important step forward for boaters, residents, and businesses that rely on safe and navigable waterways.

The dredging will take place on the south end of the Island and will focus on the Brigantine Channel around Boot Island. Work is expected to begin in the coming weeks.


The City will continue working with Senator Polistina and the NJDOT to advocate for additional dredging in other areas of the back bays that remain in need of attention.

I would like to thank the Bejsiuk family for organizing a community petition and for their strong advocacy to the State. Their help in organizing the community and keeping attention on this issues was a key factor in moving this project forward.

Brigantine Welcomes New Golf Links General Manager

The City of Brigantine is pleased to announce the hiring of Marc Kimminau, PGA of America Professional, as General Manager and Head of Golf Course Operations at the Brigantine Golf Links.

Marc brings more than 30 years of experience in the golf industry, including 18 years overseeing golf operations at Talbot Country Club in Maryland and 15 years working at several South Jersey courses, including Stone Harbor, Great Bay, and Blue Heron Pines.

A Stockton College graduate, Marc is excited to return to the region and will focus on hospitality, community engagement, and operational excellence as the City prepares to celebrate the course’s 100th anniversary in 2027.

Alongside the transition in management, the City continues to invest in the future of the Brigantine Golf Links.

Work is actively underway on several key upgrades, including the installation of a new irrigation system, improvements to cart paths, and continued progress on the design of a new clubhouse.

Together, these upgrades and the new leadership team represent the City’s ongoing effort to strengthen the course, enhance playing conditions, and ensure the Golf Links remains a source of pride for the community.

The City is proud to welcome Marc and his family to Brigantine and looks forward to this exciting next chapter at the Golf Links.

Brigantine on Wednesday passed a resolution urging Gov. Phil Murphy to declare a state of emergency in response to ongoing coastal erosion and storm damage impacting the Jersey Shore.

Brigantine has passed a resolution urging Governor Murphy to declare a State of Emergency and a state disaster declaration to address severe coastal erosion and storm damage threatening homes, streets, and critical infrastructure along the Jersey Shore.

Mayor Vince Sera said: “This resolution reflects the urgency of the situation and our need for immediate state and federal support to safeguard our community.”

Without swift action, our beaches and shoreline remain at risk from future storms.
