"We used to think 10 was a big day."

That's what Linda Hunt, executive director of the Fort Lupton Food and Clothing Bank, told us about demand before the pandemic.

Now? Her team serves more than 5,100 children, 9,500 adults and 1,300 seniors each year.

"Sometimes the only flexible part of a family's budget is the food," Hunt said. "You got to pay the rent, got to make car payment, but well, we'll just eat more rice this month."

This week, Weld Re-8 students delivered more than 4 tons of food to help. Here's the full story: https://www.ftluptonpress.com/news/weld-re-8-district-unites-for-first-major-food-drive/article_98fc1497-8021-4d3e-9430-ef20815abe08.html

A Weld Re-8 student asked their parents to crack open a piggy bank so they could buy food for families in need. The parents chipped in.

That's just one moment from the district's first-ever unified food drive, which delivered more than 4 tons to the Fort Lupton Food and Clothing Bank.

Fort Lupton Middle School parents learned this week about an employee investigation that started Nov. 5.

Today, I asked Weld RE-8 why the delay and whether kids were still in contact with this staff member during those 5 days.

They declined to answer, citing the pending investigation.

I'm staying on this story.

Parents - what questions do you need answered?

Fort Lupton Police investigating alleged unlawful contact between middle school employee and student reported five days later, employee on paid leave pending inquiry.

The trick behind Metro Water Recovery’s Northern Plant in Brighton, according to public information specialist Maritza Franco, isn’t that it takes nearly 8 million gallons of water flushed and swirled down sinks across western Adams County each day, sending it back to the Platte River.

The trick is that the plant filters out everything but the water, sending it back to the river as clean as the water that’s already there.
