LDEA Seizes Drugs Worth Over USD 40,000 in Monrovia

Monrovia – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has made a major breakthrough with the arrest of a huge quantity of dangerous substances identified as Android Spark. The seizure, made in Monrovia, is valued at more than USD 40,000, alongside over LRD 200,000 believed to be proceeds from just today’s sales.

Authorities say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on the trafficking and distribution of illicit drugs across Liberia. The suspects connected to the haul are currently in custody, while investigations continue.

The LDEA has assured the public of its commitment to curbing drug abuse and protecting young people from the growing wave of substance use in the country.

🚨 BREAKING: Musician Alonzo Arrested in Liberia for Drug Trafficking 🚨

On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, popular Liberian artist Alonzo Abasi (real name: Alonso Yeah) was arrested along with three others at Bo Waterside, Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia.

Authorities confirmed the group was caught in possession of 844 grams of Methcathinone — a highly dangerous synthetic drug, reportedly valued at over $8,000 USD. This marks the first known seizure of Methcathinone in Liberia.
