"Men, heed this truth: You're not alone, and you have an enemy with sinister plans. Engage in spiritual warfare, as God intends, but it's different from what you might think. The apostle Paul's warning is clear: 'We should not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his schemes.' (2 Cor 2:11 BLT) One of Satan's tactics is to hurt us when we're vulnerable, then convince us to carry that pain for life. When told we need healing, we often resist, believing the past is past. We keep playing life hurt, and this continues until a devastating blow knocks us out.Playing hurt gives the Devil a target, an opportunity to exploit our vulnerability. He plays dirty and waits for the right moment to strike. Pursuing healing is a form of spiritual warfare, robbing the Devil of his calculated attacks.
Think of Gladiator, where Commodus taunts and wounds Maximus, giving himself an unfair advantage in the arena. Satan operates similarly.
I played hurt for years, affecting my family, work, and church. God urged me to address my anger, anxiety, and fears, and eventually, I understood the importance of sideline training to remove the targets Satan could hit. Rest is a form of warfare, as Graham Cooke wisely said.
God calls us to play the long game, not the short one. In the long game, we have time to become completely healthy and whole. There's no rush with God. Jesus calls us to declare, 'The prince of this world has no hold over me.' Healing prepares us for this journey, removing targets for the Devil.
Embrace the long game, men. Take time to heal and be prepared. Your moment will come, and when it does, the Devil won't stand a chance. 🔥 "
