📚 Today’s featured title from Hebrew Union College Press:

Nelson Glueck: Biblical Archaeologist and President of the Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion
by Jonathan Brown & Laurence Kutler

✨ This engrossing biography traces the life of Nelson Glueck, one of the most influential figures in biblical archaeology and American Jewish leadership. From uncovering ancient Nabataean sites and identifying biblical copper mines to demonstrating how the Negev could sustain large populations, Glueck’s discoveries transformed our understanding of the ancient Near East. Known affectionately in early Israel as “Ha-Professor,” he moved easily among leaders such as Ben-Gurion, Golda Meir, and Henrietta Szold.

As president of Hebrew Union College (1947–1971), Glueck oversaw major expansions, guided the merger with the Jewish Institute of Religion, and founded the School of Biblical and Archaeological Studies in Jerusalem—now bearing his name. Brown and Kutler offer a vivid portrait of a charismatic scholar whose work bridged archaeology, Jewish scholarship, and the building of modern Israel.
