Our mission is to provide care and rehabilitation to horses who have suffered abuse, trauma and neglect, bring awareness to the plight of unwanted horses as well as provide education on proper horse care. Horses that are neglected and abused end up in the slaughter pipeline through absolutely no fault of their own—Nalani Horse Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to changing the outcome fo

r these needy horses.

​Horses are highly intelligent and very sensitive animals. When they have endured trauma or neglect—the damage to them is profound and exceeds physical damage. It is often accompanied by emotional and psychological damage. Nalani Horse Rescue takes a multi-step approach to their care. First, we heal them physically and then we slowly and steadily work with them to earn their trust and heal their trauma emotionally and psychologically. Our safe, peaceful, and tranquil environment fosters healing on many levels.

​Nalani Horse Rescue recognizes that every horse is an individual. Each horse we rescue is treated with a customized plan for their recovery based on their specific individual unique needs and challenges. Recovery and building trust take time and slow, steady steps. We invest the time each horse needs to move toward their healing.

Looking for a Loving Home for Sweet Pansy. 🌸

Nalani Horse Rescue is helping a local family rehome a very special, well-loved mare.

Meet Pansy, a 22-year-old Quarter Horse, standing about 14.3 hands. She is an exceptionally trustworthy and eager-to-please trail partner. Pansy crosses creeks, roads, bridges, and steps over logs without hesitation. She responds beautifully to voice cues—walk, whoa, a cluck for trot, and a kiss for canter.

But her heart is truly her best feature. Pansy is gentle, affectionate, and loves being with her person. She’ll happily stay by your side while you do chores, even when the other horses have wandered off. She adores being brushed and doted on, and she has the sweetest, softest presence.

We’re looking for a home where Pansy can enjoy occasional light trail rides or simply live out her days in a peaceful retirement, surrounded by love, care, and kind people.

Introducing Buckshot. 🥰

This adorable 26-year-old Quarter Horse buckskin gelding has lived a full and purposeful life. In his younger years, he was a talented barrel racer, and for the past decade, he’s been a brave and willing trail companion. These days, he enjoys a lighter pace — a quiet walk on the trail or simply keeping another horse company in the pasture.

Buckshot stands 15.1 hands, is barefoot, up to date on everything, and has been deeply loved and well cared for. His family’s circumstances have changed, and with heavy hearts, they’ve made the difficult decision to find him a new home.

Nalani Horse Rescue is helping to ensure this sweet soul finds the safe, loving place he deserves to spend his golden years — surrounded by kindness, good care, and maybe a few treats.

Meet Thunder! This handsome 13-year-old Tennessee Walker has been a loyal partner and trail companion.

Thunder’s family loves him deeply, but life circumstances have changed, and they’ve made the difficult decision to find him a new home. Nalani Horse Rescue is helping to make sure he lands safely in a place where he’ll continue to be cherished.

He’s a seasoned trail horse, standing 15.3 hands, responds to verbal cues, loads and unloads with ease, is barefoot, and is up to date on everything. He’s got more “go” than “whoa,” making him a great fit for someone who enjoys an energetic ride and exploring new places together.

✨ Cricket is searching for his forever companion home! Spread the word! ✨

At about 25 years old and standing a cute 13.1 hands, Cricket is the sweetest little gentleman wrapped up in the most adorable package.

He can be a bit shy at first, but once he warms up, he soaks up attention, especially from tiny humans! In fact, he absolutely adores children and would thrive in a home where he can be loved on by little ones.

Cricket is barefoot, UTD on all his care, and incredibly safe to handle. He gets along well with the whole herd, has a best buddy, but isn’t buddy sour. He’s happy to go with the flow.

This kind, gentle soul is ready for a family to love him as much as he will love them. 🐴💕
