The Spark

The Spark Igniting the news revolution
in Brockton and the Bridgewaters It's time for a news source you deserve!! It really is that simple. And will be incredibly powerful.

We live in a busy, dynamic, active community and in this environment, knowledge IS power. This power right now is concentrated in the hands of a few…because the information is concentrated in the hands of a few. When was the last time you knew you were getting the facts on both sides of an issue so you could make an informed decision? When was the last time you felt confident heading into a voting

booth? When was the last time you felt like your specific neighborhood’s concerns were getting the attention they deserve? When was the last time your child was publicly recognized for his or her achievements? When was the last time you looked forward to reading the news?? It’s time for a strong, unbiased news service dedicated to YOU.We are a group of passionate journalists who will work to seek out YOUR voices. Our mission is to empower the citizens of this great community through the spread of pure facts and unbiased information. We will:
collect all of the information swirling around town,
verify it,
organize it,
distribute it.

After three extraordinary years, we are closing the doors of The Spark. We have met incredible people, told important stories, identified crucial and underreported hyperlocal issues, and shared many, many of your voices.

We are closing strictly due to a lack of funding — certainly not for lack of stories to tell or games to cover. We extend a sincere thank you to every one of you who supported us along the way; through donations, social media participation, phone calls, emails, and countless conversations at events and on sidelines, you showed us that you care about your local and community news just as passionately as we do. We also thank our many correspondents, with special kudos to Bayleigh Westerlund and Brian Berard.

We are reserving the rights to our site and social media in case the opportunity arises to continue our coverage in the future but, until then, please continue to hold your local outlets to the highest journalistic standard. It has been our honor to work for you.
