‼️SARGENT VOTERS‼️
I have been following the Sargent pool bond story for some time now, and we have reported the results of the two previous votes in addition to many in-between stories (Google "Sargent pool Sandhills Express").
As the vote deadline of Tuesday (July 15) at 5 PM approaches, I have heard directly from both sides of the for/against vote and observed discussions and posts on social media. I have been sent emails and direct messages from those who want to give their opinion.
The problem is this: the emails or messages have been exchanged with incomplete or anonymous email addresses, my replies asking for a statement or interview have gone unanswered, and individuals have said they would rather remain anonymous (which I always respect).
It is my duty as a journalist (and stand-in news director 😀) to make every effort possible to tell the story from both sides, and with the vote deadline approaching my window to be able to include both is closing.
In my humble opinion, statements from "anonymous" are what you see in the tabloids.. they hold little to no weight because nobody knows who said it or why they should believe it. I will not do that kind of writing because it lets down those trying to form an opinion on an topic/issue/debate.
Thank you for understanding that I am working hard to make a complete story. I hope that the one that comes out is able to be!
