🔹KEY WEST INT’L TAKES A COLLABORATIVE AND ADAPTIVE APPROACH TO WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT🔹

Swallows and plovers and herons, oh my! Surrounded by mangroves, salt marshes and wetlands—and directly in the path of the Mississippi and Atlantic Flyways—Florida’s Key West International Airport (EYW) is an attractive site for a wide range of wildlife, especially migratory birds flying south. Since birds and aircraft are a dangerous combination, EYW has a comprehensive and adaptive wildlife hazard management program to help ensure the safety of both aircraft passengers and local wildlife.

💐Flower imports at MIA are in full bloom before Valentine’s Day💐

Business has been blooming at Miami International Airport - MIA in the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day, with the cargo gateway projecting that more than 1,500 tons of cut flowers will arrive daily between January 1 and the end of February – a 3% increase over the airport’s record-breaking peak season in 2024. America’s largest gateway for flowers, which welcomes 91% of all imports by air to the U.S., expects to receive 90,154 tons of cut flowers valued at more than $400 million during this year’s Valentine’s Day rush.

🔹DENVER INT’L DOUBLES ITS ESCALATORS IN CONCOURSE A🔹

In 2023, Denver International Airport welcomed a record-breaking 77.8 million passengers, which was 12.3% more than in the previous year. Compare that to the 31 million passengers the airport served in 1995 when it opened, and it’s no wonder the escalator banks could feel cramped during busy times. But the escalators weren’t the only equipment targeted for replacement. This was part of a much bigger initiative.

🔹PARKING INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS ADDRESS DEMAND AT NORFOLK INT’L🔹

In response to significant traffic growth, Norfolk International Airport (ORF) has undertaken a major initiative to enhance customer parking and improve its efficiency. With just short of 5 million annual passengers projected by the end of 2024, the Virginia airport is addressing its current parking capacity while laying the groundwork for future expansion. Strategic upgrades totaling $72 million include a new 3,200-space parking garage, resurfacing of the East Lot, a garage space availability measurement system and a new Park and Wait Lot. These projects are part of a $1 billion capital improvement program to transform the airport over the next five to six years.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is quite literally raising the bar for passenger safety, comfort and convenience during construction. As part of its $2.6 billion Terminal 3 West Modernization project, the California airport recently opened an interim corridor elevated approximately 17 feet above the tarmac. One of its primary purposes is to keep travelers flowing smoothly to and from their gates throughout upcoming years of construction inside the nearby terminal.
