We’re going to be sharing more great stories from the Donning vault. We're starting with our own fun fact. Founded in the early seventies, Donning has now produced more than two thousand commemorative histories. Today’s flashback is a pair of books which may be some of the oldest in our library of published titles. Both of these titles are from our earliest days in the seventies.

New Title Tuesday! Today we look at Historical Leander Texas. A book by Karen Thompson and her daughter Kathy Howell. It covers a history of Leander, with emphasis on 1835-1960. The book includes over 200 photos that have been collected for the past forty years. As with all our titles, we just love the quality of these printings. The smell of a new book never gets old.

This week’s New Title Tuesday is a tale of The Grand. The Grand opened in January of 1895 with innovative acoustics and the largest stage in Texas. The Great Storm of 1900 nearly destroyed it, but was able to open a year later fully restored.

The Grand has featured world-famous talent. This book is a story of survival and the resilience of the people and city it serves. It stands today as the last of Henry Greenwall’s theatres.

It’s another New Title Tuesday!

Native Resistance: An Intergenerational Fight for Survival and Life is Dr. LaNada War Jack’s unique exploration of the treatment of Native Americans by the US government and her own personal story as a revolutionary leader in the fight for the rights of Indigenous people. As the first Native American student to attend UC Berkeley, LaNada’s leadership helped establish Berkeley’s Native American Studies program. She was also the organizer and chair of UC Berkeley Native American Students United and a leader of the UC Berkeley Third World Liberation Front Strike. In Native Resistance, Dr. War Jack takes the reader on a journey through a first-hand account of the occupation of Alcatraz Island in 1969, the Standing Rock protests, and other important moments in Native American history. As noted by Kent Blansett, author of A Journey to Freedom: Richard Oakes, Alcatraz, and the Red Power Movement, “This is a must-read book for anyone interested in the takeover of Alcatraz Island or the Red Power movement of the 1960s and ’70s.”

It's New Title Tuesday! This week is about Gaffney High School football. This book celebrates Gaffney Football's 100 year history as part of the South Carolina High School League, with the thousands of coaches and players, the team's successes and losses, and 17 state championships - more than any other high school in the state. Featuring a roster and record for each year that the Gaffney Indians have competed along with fascinating stories and memorial moments throughout the history.

The genesis of Axis Steel Detailing began in the mind of a young high school student. Our newest release celebrates the first ten years of the company from opening its doors for business in 2008 through surviving a recession with creative thinking and an expanding portfolio. We’re proud to help bring another piece of history to print with this beautiful 11.5” x 12”, one hundred and twenty page coffee-table book.
