May 13, 1991— released ‘De La Soul Is Dead,’ one of the most influential and unconventional Hip-Hop albums of its era.

The project marked a major creative shift for De La Soul, moving away from the colorful “D.A.I.S.Y. Age” image associated with their debut and embracing darker themes, satire, and sharper social commentary.

Blending innovative sampling, skits, and genre-bending production, the album helped redefine alternative Hip-Hop while influencing generations of artists that followed.

Over time, ‘De La Soul Is Dead’ has become recognized as a landmark release in Hip-Hop and one of the group’s most celebrated works. 🛑
