Candidate filing has closed for the Minnesota House of Representatives and Senate races scheduled for Nov. 3. Primary elections are scheduled for Aug. 11. CCX Media will publish on-camera statements with candidates this fall after the primary elections have wrapped up.

Kids in Brooklyn Park reeled in some fish with the help of local police. Brooklyn Park, MN - Police Department held its annual Cops 'N Kids fishing event. The tradition dates back to 2009. Police Chief Mark Bruley says the goal here is to help police build positive relationships with youth and to teach them a hobby that keeps them out of trouble.

Clark Gregor, who has served on the Plymouth City Council since 2022, has announced he plans to run for the mayor's seat. He declared his candidacy ahead of the July 14 opening of the candidate filing period.

Plymouth resident Elizabeth Neuville will be competing in the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, held June 20-26 on the University of Minnesota campus. Neuville will compete in the 100, 200 and 4x100 relay race events. Neuville’s mother, Patty, was also selected as a coach for Team Minnesota.

A planned merger between Robbinsdale-based North Memorial Health and the much larger Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health could not only help stabilize the Robbinsdale hospital, but help the two nonprofit health systems grow, according to their leaders. "It was going to take something different in order for us to be successful in the long term of caring for our patients," said North Memorial Health CEO Trevor Sawallish.

Food shelves across Minnesota say they're seeing record-breaking demand for help this year, according to The Food Group a food bank based in New Hope. There were nearly 860,000 food shelf visits in March, the most ever recorded in a single month.

A recent case of tuberculosis (TB) at North View Middle School in Brooklyn Park has Hennepin County Public Health officials working to reassure people that the situation is being managed through routine procedures. Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that most commonly affects the lungs.

An animal shelter that has served the northwest suburbs for decades is getting a significant makeover. Officials broke ground on a nearly 1,000-square-foot expansion at Pets Under Police Security in Maple Grove. The facility houses stray dogs and cats from Maple Grove, Plymouth, New Hope and Robbinsdale.

City of Golden Valley, MN - Local Government celebrated the opening of The Winn at Golden Valley, a 303-unit luxury apartment complex located near Highway 55 and Wisconsin Avenue. The project, which started in 2021, took the space of a large Wells Fargo branch building, while the bank moved to a smaller space on the site where a former Park Nicollet building once stood.
