Balanced cantilever bridges employ a unique construction method, where two cantilevers extending from a central pier are carefully balanced to form the bridge deck. As the cantilevers are built outward in segments, their weights are counterbalanced by corresponding segments on the opposite side. Upon completion, the cantilevers are joined at the center to create a continuous span. This design enables efficient construction over challenging terrain, such as deep rivers or valleys, where traditional supports aren't feasible. By reducing the need for temporary supports, the balanced cantilever approach has become a preferred solution for complex and large-scale bridge projects.
