Mishbaka is proud to present Elementa 001: Eric David Hoegemeyer with Remix by John Tejada.
Voicing Earth’s ancient mysteries through cutting-edge cybernetic sound, the enigmatic EP — “Elementa 001: Eric David Hoegemeyer” — leads listeners through a mesmeric evolution of immersive ambience. Five cinematic tracks capture the surreal interplay of the traditional elements: earth, water, air, fire and aether, as Hoegemeyer asks his musical voyagers to contemplate: “How deeply do Earth’s ancient rhythms still run through our hypermodern world?”
As the all-distracting digital age ruptures humankind’s bond with nature, “Elementa 001” (the first installment of NY label Mishbaka’s all-new “Elementa” series) re-aligns us with our planet’s most primordial forces. Hoegemeyer’s explorative, experimental and mind-bending sonic architecture re-constructs the building blocks of existence from scratch, illuminating both beauty and chaos as Earth’s natural cycles garner powerful new meanings in our technological age.
The forest’s dank, bristling undergrowth germinates in microscopic detail through EP-opener, “Root and Stem” — an earthy track pulsating to Nature’s awakening heartbeat and sprawling into the most unlikely and vulnerable contours of sound. “Between Drops and Waves” paints a vision of water particles merging into the ocean; each hypnotic rhythm swelling with strength and light, conjuring up the bewitching mysteries of the deep as Hoegemeyer plants his listeners amidst the lonely regions of the monstrous Sea.
“Ever Expanding” picks up eclectic oddities of psychedelic jazz; daggered with the invisible and infinite potential of our expanding universe, capturing the enchanting dance of air-borne life radiating within. The mystical “Astronomy Mine” draws vivid threads between Earth’s molten core and the starfires of the cosmos. Composed during a ceremonial retreat in the Colombian mountains, mantric chants and insect chirps interlace a sublime, droning soundscape, soaked in ancestral vibrations drawing us back to the genesis of spiritual connection.
LA-based luminary, groundbreaking DJ-producer and Reggie Watts collaborator John Tejada supercharges “Root and Stem” in a final, invigorating remix, manifesting “aether” (Spirit) through minimal techno, balancing warehouse atmospheres with the glimmering quietude of mystical immersion.
“Eric David Hoegemeyer” is set to kickstart Mishbaka’s “Elementa” series — each EP an innovative breakdown of our world’s most ancient and time-honored elements, positing the question: In an age of noise and speed, what does it mean to return to elemental awareness? The Earth may transmit its ancient messages until its final days, but are we, as cosmic beings, still attuned enough to receive them?
Through this first installment, Hoegemeyer twines tradition and transformation into an unforgettably invocatory musical experience. While our species surges towards a technological utopia, Hoegemeyer’s sonic art reawakens the natural world within us, entangling our roots in the plush soil betwixt the skyscraping concrete, and guiding us back to the first light of being - the unfiltered serenity of life and growth on a planet tapestried with magic, mayhem and mystery.
