Midtown Community Benefits District, along with its partners, is pleased to share that we are the recipient of the Chesapeake Bay Trust Urban Tree Grant Program. This grant will help support Midtown's ongoing efforts to facilitate tree plantings in underserviced neighborhoods and support the goal of increasing the tree canopy in Baltimore City.
To help us celebrate, we invite community volunteers to join us at one of the Fall Planting Events, which the Urban Tree Grant Program is helping to support.
Saturday, October 22nd in Charles North and Saturday, November 5th in Mount Vernon.
Midtown wishes to thank the Chesapeake Bay Trust, Mount Vernon-Belvedere Association, MVBA Trees, Charles North Community Association, Central Baltimore Partnership, Charles Street Development Corporation, and Baltimore Community ToolBank.
The goal of the Urban Tree Grant Program is to green communities, enhance the quality of life, human health, and community livability by improving air quality and reducing the urban heat island effect, and mitigate some of the effects of climate change. The Urban Trees Grant Program was called for by the Maryland General Assembly as a component of a 5,000,000-tree goal by 2031. You can learn more about the program at https://cbtrust.org/grants/urban-trees/
Visit our website, midtownbaltimore.org/events to register for either of these planting events.
