Celebrate by exploring his music released under our label — including his acclaimed interpretation of Calvo’s Intermezzos on his album EXILIO (“Alom plays Calvo’s four Intermezzos with warmth and care, channeling the uncanny combination of charm and emotional distance in the music.” — George Grella), and the award-winning music documentary “Exilio: Hope and Resilience” directed by Julián De La Chica, featuring visuals by Juan Carlos Alom and the participation of mezzo-soprano Rosario Armas.

[IGM] is proud to present for your GRAMMY® consideration our latest release: the world-premiere recordings of two song cycles by composer Julián De La Chica — Arias Florentinas, Op. 15 and Canciones de la Muerte, Op. 20 — featured on the stunning debut album of mezzo-soprano Rosario Armas and pianist Ahmed Alom.

Canciones de la Muerte, commissioned for this album, is also submitted in the Contemporary Classical Composition category. The work was inspired by 17-century verses of Portuguese priest Fr. António da Ascenção, which the composer encountered during a visit to Évora’s haunting Chapel of Bones in 2023.

[IGM] presents the new acoustic, extended version of Espino Blanco [2025], marking the tenth anniversary of its composition.

Originally written in 2015 as part of Susan Campos Fonseca’s Butō Meditations cycle, Espino Blanco was first included in the album Minimal Aggression [IGM, 2015] and performed by Costa Rican violist Edmundo Ramírez and American violist . Conceived for viola and “dark ambient” electronics designed in collaboration with Costa Rica–based sound artist Alejandro Sánchez Núñez, the work now returns in a completely acoustic reimagining alongside young Costa Rican violinist .
