This is the duo’s second International Women’s Day release, after De Curvo Cuerpo (March 2022), which remains a staple pop-reggaeton hit in Colombia, advocating for women being who they want to be, not who they are expected to be.

The video for the new track features a behind-the-scenes look at recording “Libéralo” with La Muchacha, as well as a live performance in Bogota’s Media Torta at the end of last year.

The song was written by Juanita Añez Rothmann (one half of Las Áñez) and Laura Isabel Ramírez Ocampo (La Muchacha) and arranged by Las Áñez

Last week to see ‘Orixás: Personal Tales on Portraiture’, the inaugural solo exhibition of São Paulo based artist in London.

Curated by Samuele Visentin, Nazareno’s work is based on fables that he writes, which draw inspiration from the pantheon of Orixás - a system of entities worshipped in religions in some parts of Africa and Latin America. Creating a new body of work for this exhibition, Nazareno’s 16 paintings and 25 charcoal drawings incorporate wide-ranging influences, from the characteristics and traditions of Afro-Latin religions (Candomblé, Santería and Voodoo) to the aesthetics of fashion photography, Haute Couture, Renaissance and Baroque painting.

On view until Saturday 9th November

S&C favourite features on new track “Lejos de Más” with London-based Spanish indie artist

The nostalgic song features recognisable Helado Negro flavour — soft tones, layered but simple harmonies, reflective looping lyrics – and explores the pain that distance can cause in a relationship.

The lyric “Quedé afuera de tu corazón” [I was left outside of your heart] repeats like a spiralling melancholy thought, yet the music offers a deep breath and a sense of hope. The soft keys and clear, melodic guitar plucking are heartfelt and relaxing and the 80s synth line adds some groove, creating an overall feel of acceptance.
