Riding back into the Radio Free Brooklyn Archive of Time, we find El Americano Cósmico's EP 6 from July 14, 2024 to rebroadcast this Sunday 9AM EST/1500 CET. I chose this one mainly because it featured The Pointer Sisters "Number Count" from Sesame Street.

Over the years I've received positive feedback from listeners specifically citing that song selection. Most of this show is a pretty seamless blend of surf, exotica, surfotica with a few funk & reggae tunes. Love how they melded together.

Gazing back at the Archive, I found this one from Oct 2024. This was a show where I was still trying to adapt to the 1 hour format.

Mixed a few different vibes on this one where a 2 or 3 hour show would have given this exploration more space to breathe. Still a good show though.

The meat of the show where it took off was about at the half hour mark with a set from The Concussions, Neil Young, Chuck Prophet, Question Mark and the Mysterians, Sir Douglas Quintet & Jason Sinay . The other parts of the show are also built well around this set courtesy of LHD, Albert Gines, The Aqualads, Satan's Pilgrims & much more!

Finally discovered that it was the band AIR that sampled and looped the intro to "Do It Again" from The Beach Boys providing a nice dream trance vibe to their track. Love using WhoSampled to figure out which artists sampled what.

Floating Dreamy tracks courtesy of Bill Frisell, The Beach Boys & Laurent Lombard, open up this show giving way to some Sitar Rock, Cambodian Rock, & Psych Out stuff.

Good set of Surfotica from The Concussions, The Volcanics, Glasgow Tiki Shakers, etc & some B3 jazz funk from Menahan Street Band, The New Mastersounds & Khruangbin round out the second half of the show.

This show originally aired on Sept. 15, 2024 & will rebroadcast this Sunday on Radio Free Brooklyn at 9AM EST/1500 CET!

Not trying to phone it in, but been busy on a project. So here's another one from the Radio Free Brooklyn archive broadcasting from 9-10AM EST/1500-1600 CET!

This show I liked because I felt like I did a pretty good job flowing fairly seamlessly through some Mellow Surfotica tracks, to some Psychedelic Psych out from California & Cambodia & then some hard driving B3 funk rounding it out with some far out Voodoo Jazz from Miles Davis & some funky Nina Simone.

Not too shabby for a one hour show.

As I study some past shows & give them a closer listen with the headphones, I came across the second show that I did for Radio Free Brooklyn on June 16, 2024. This one surprised me.

These tracks are selected from a "one year hiatus from radio" listening experience giving them a long distilled process. The poem featured here was also a surprise.

Forget what I had written and performed and it sounded like I was listening to someone else's work. About as objective one can come to one's own work.

Also, this is one of the last shows where I typically used a 3-4 minute intro track to start a show. Found it unnecessary for a one hour show. However, it was fun hearing The Pink Panther Theme disco/funk version open up the show with v/o.
