Riders take in the view aboard one of the final trips of New York City’s last five open-top double-decker buses, operated by the Fifth Avenue Coach Company.

By 1 p.m. that day, the company officially ended all open-top service, closing a chapter that began in 1907. Some buses were shipped off to Argentina and Cuba for continued use, while others were dismantled for scrap.
