How to Dance Around The Virus - Red Hook Star-Revue

Mike Cobb from the Red Hook Star-Revue spoke with CTS along with several Brooklyn music centric businesses about enduring the Pandemic.

Recently, I won tickets from a Hudson Valley radio station to see Margo Price perform live at Brooklyn Bowl via a streaming platform called Fans. It was great to see a concert again and the band was excellent, but the experience was odd as there was no audience, aside from a few flashes of fellow sp...

The Call by Emily Duff

The Emily Duff Band recently completed recording and mixing this protest song at Cowboy Technical with producer Eric Ambel. Social distancing and high tech collaboration via the Audiomovers software were a big help. We hope you enjoy the song and that you have made a plan to vote.

Evie’s Terrace gets a 77! We have a great one at Cowboy Technical Services Recording Rig but I’ve always wanted one for my home studio too as there’s really nothing like the sound of a RCA 77. This one is 77 D that was modified to DX spec many years ago. I had Clarence Kane at ENAK mic service in Jersey look it over. He worked for RCA starting after the Korean War and has been repairing and restoring ribbon mics longer than I’ve been alive. It’s really inspiring
Here's a tune from The Travelling Band that was recorded at the first Cowboy Technical Services Recording Rig location on Hope Street. It's rather joyous

Here's the first listen to a track from the upcoming Ward Hayden & The Outliers record I produced. It's coming out on August 20th (which happens to be my birthday). I'm very excited for you to hear it. It was recorded at Mad Oak Studios with Benny Grotto engineering and mixed at Cowboy Technical Services Recording Rig by Mario Viele and I.

Join the email list to be of the first to know when our love letter to Steve, the art book Kickstarter launches in late April! https://bit.ly/3eM4Y1r Excellent Collection from Eric "Roscoe" Ambel of Cowboy Technical Services Recording Rig and his story. "I became aware of Steve Keene and his art around 1995 when a Brooklyn band I was producing named Martin’s Folly brought a huge custom painting into the studio where we were recording upstate to set the vibe for the sessions. Steve also did Martin’s Folly’s self titled debut record cover for the band. Not too long afterwards I was in the process of opening my own bar in the East Village with partner Jim Marshall (aka WFMU DJ “The Hound”) We had a name, The Lakeside Lounge, but we didn’t have a concept for the decor. I suggested we get Steve Keene to do a bunch of paintings for us that had a sort of “lodge/lake vibe” to them. Steve was way into the idea and after checking out the colors we had used in the bar he created an amazing set of images for us. During our 16 years in business at the Lakeside he would make 3 complete new sets of art for the bar. He also did custom drum heads for our beloved house drum kit. We held many “Christmas Art Shows” also for Steve where people could stock up on his paintings for presents at the Lakeside. A lot of these were Steve’s “album cover tribute” paintings. In addition to all of those paintings Steve did a wonderful and unique job painting the outboard gear racks for my Brooklyn recording studio Cowboy Technical Services. Many of the original Lakeside Steve Keene paintings reside there now. Steve also painted an image that was used for the album cover by my band The Del-Lords for our 2013 album “Elvis Club” The Del-Lords It’s really been amazing to spread the word."

Happy 41st Birthday to Joe Jackson's Look Sharp! So thankful to have gotten the chance to tour with Joe extensively. Here's a picture of our final night of the Volume 4 tour at The Vicar in Dublin, Ireland. (L to R is Gary Sanford, me, Graham Maby and Joe. And you can almost see Dave Moughton on drums.) Also here, a picture of Joe and I together on my piano bench at Cowboy Technical Services Recording Rig after he played on The Songs of Beulah Rowley album.
