According to reports, if the government shutdown continues into November, about 42 million low-income Americans could lose or see delays in their food stamp benefits, the Agriculture Department warned. The agency said it may have “insufficient funds” to operate SNAP and has told states to pause benefit processing for November while exploring contingency plans.
