We are celebrating the life of Mikayla Caldwell Capozzi who has passed away February 14, 2026. It’s been such a immense impact learning of this and processing this huge loss to us as a community so we are centering the ways grief is showing up for us by reflecting on the experiences we shared with our Diva Mikayla and even though it’s been over a decade it feels so short of time. She reminded many of us to take up space because we belong everywhere especially as black trans people who are often pushed to the deepest corners of society. She was a powerful leader, community organizer, poet, sister, daughter, auntie, friend, artist and mentor. She was charisma in practice and contributed joy to many of our lives.

To join us email us at [email protected] for location details to turn up and celebrate Mikaylas existence in this world with us Saturday, March 21st, 2026 from 5pm to 9pm at Blacktransmedia. We will be dancing, eating, watching media and community building thru love, laughter, reflections, visions tenderness while we share me memories of her.

Show up and Show out in the name of Mikayla Caldwell Capozzi who was a queen in every sense of the word and even if you didn’t get an opportunity to meet her use this space to celebrate a transcestor with community.
