A South Carolina jury has found convenience store owner Chikei "Rick" Chow not guilty in the 2023 shooting death of 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack-Belton.

Prosecutors argued that Chow chased the teenager after wrongly suspecting him of stealing bottled water and shot him in the back. The defense argued Chow acted to protect his son after believing Cyrus had pointed a gun at him. The jury ultimately acquitted Chow of murder charges.
