From Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio: "On Tuesday night, the Diocese of Brooklyn and DeSales Media Group hosted the annual Christmas tree lighting at Grand Army Plaza. What is different this year is the impressive sculpture that took the place of the Nativity creche. “Angels Unawares” pays tribute to immigrants and migrants from throughout our history, including the Holy Family, Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus, who also had to flee their land. The original sculpture is at the Vatican and we are honored here in the Diocese of Immigrants to display this replica until January 3 as part of its U.S. tour.

Here are some photos, including the Holy Family: Joseph, carrying his toolbox, and Mary carrying Jesus, who are at the center of the sculpture. For more on Angels Unawares, click on the column from The Tablet

#HomiliesInYourHome is a series implemented on the Diocese of Brooklyn page where they are posting inspiring homilies from Daily Masses that air on NET TV. 25th Annual Bishop DiMarzio Golf Classic Honors Front Line Heroes, Proceeds Support Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens - The Tablet

The Annual Bishop DiMarzio Golf Classic may have looked a bit different this year, but we are grateful for the outcome of last Thursday and for all the wonderful work being done in our community:

"The $100,000 in proceeds from this year’s event will help support Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens and their ongoing COVID-19 relief efforts. During the pandemic, CCBQ has served 500,000 meals at Emergency food distribution pop-ups in addition to thousands of meals served at its 20 parish-based pantries.

The event honored the work and spiritual support of 23 chaplains who serve in hospitals and nursing homes throughout Brooklyn and Queens, as well as the DeSales Media Emergency Task Force, established at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The chaplains honored at the annual golf outing have been providing front line support to thousands of coronavirus patients and their families. They have also comforted families of those suffering alone and administered Last Rites and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. DeSales Media Group honored these Diocese of Brooklyn hospital chaplains for their personal courage and service to this vital ministry." - from The Tablet
