I am thrilled to launch MaiStoryBook’s Book-a-Day Series celebrating Pride Month: Every day this week I will be sharing a NEW interactive read aloud on MaiStoryBook Youtube that celebrates all the different forms of love and identity there are.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hn9OLuPnW0s

Today’s First featured read aloud in the lineup: “Auntie Uncle: Drag Queen Hero” by Ellie Royce , Illustrated by Hannah Chambers. During the week, Uncle Leo is an accountant ~ good at crunching numbers and helping his nephew with math hw. On the weekends, Auntie Lotta dresses in fabulous gowns and performs, singing and dancing with her friends and nephew. Uncle Leo and Auntie Lotta are the same person. When Auntie Lotta performs a heroic act during a Pride Parade, and is invited by the mayor to an award ceremony to celebrate her with her friends and family, Auntie Lotta wants all of her friends to come. However, she worries that Uncle Leo’s friends won’t be as accepting of her and her drag queen friends. With the help of their nephew, can they find a way for *both* Uncle Leo and Auntie Lotta to receive the award?

With bright illustrations and expressive characters, this is a genuine, sweet, and uplifting story about the courage to be who you are and let your true self shine for the world to see!

Thank you to POW Kids Books for sharing this read with me!

The Climbing Tree | San Francisco Book Review

Thank you to San Francisco Book Review for this lovely review of "The Climbing Tree"! Written by John Stith and illustrated by Yuliya Pieletskaya, "The Climbing Tree" is available now wherever books are sold!

"The Climbing Tree is a sweet and timely tale of sibling rivalry, youth, and acceptance. For those who share this cross-generational story with young children, the innocence that is projected on the pages will likely touch their hearts. Fond memories of endless childhood days scaling bigger-than-life oak trees may sift through their minds. Those young children who are listening to this tale or are reading it themselves will be blessed with a story that resonates and brings forth compassion and awe. They will likely find it relatable and visually alluring, as the illustrator’s work is beautiful."

There is nothing Little Brother wants more than to be his Big Brother’s equal. He wants to climb where Big Brother climbs and to pretend as Big Brother does. As soon as Little Brother is older enough to be allowed to travel in his brave brother’s footsteps, Big Brother is already onto the next e...
