A Wild Home

A Wild Home We raised our children on our 4-acre historic, permaculture farm(Luna Hill Farm) for 10 years.

A Wild Home is a nature-connected, permaculture-designed learning space for children, families, & community 🌿

Education, workshops, & gatherings rooted in curiosity, connection, & care.

📍 Downtown Brooksville, FL While we lived there, we ran various community building events, ranging from Yoga on the lawn, a monthly Women's Listening Circle for 7 years, foraging classes in our 2 acre Forest Gard

en, Medicinal Plant classes from our herb spiral, community gatherings of all sorts, & farm tours. We also ran the Luna Hill Wild School, where children from ages 4-13 came to learn about mindfulness, permaculture & organic gardening, carpentry, animal husbandry, foraging, connecting with the moons cycles, healthy communication, & more! In 2019 we decided to do something we'd been contemplating for a while-convert a bus and travel with our kids as a natural evolution to their(and our!)education. AJ design the bus & John built the conversion all by hand in 3 1/2 months & we left our hometown on December 1st, starting our (at least)year-long adventure exploring the U.S.! After traveling for 2 years, visiting 19 National Parks & 21 States, we moved out of our skoolie & into a home on a quiet brick street, in beautiful downtown Brooksville, FL! AJ & John now run another Wild School here, while converting the land to a rich learning environment from AJ's design plan.

The kids at Village Day had a very cooperative assembly line going on! Mining for clay, washing it, breaking up the big chunks, turning it into fine powder(they called Cheeto dust lol), then adding water, & it was ready to make pots!

Did they make said pots? Nope.
Did they need to have a final product? No.
If you want me to name it, I’d call it; joy, cooperation, focus, & fun.

No specific outcome needed- just presence in the process, in community.

🐝 Honeybee Classroom at Wild School

Learning how to be in relationship with honeybees begins with setting boundaries, practicing safety, and understanding how a hive & colony function as a whole.

The kids asked thoughtful questions, observed closely, and we shared our “why”….. biodiversity, balance, and care for the ecosystems we’re part of.

🍯 Soon we’ll suit up, gently pull a frame, cut comb, and share fresh honeycomb- an experience rooted in respect, not spectacle.

In the meantime, they’ll continue watching our bees thrive in the pollinator gardens & sip from the wildlife ponds that support so much life here.

We start the Winter Season of Wild School today!

So very excited to work with a full class of amazing kiddos ~ continuing to build a welcoming, rooted community. Teaching skills we’re passionate about to the next generation✨

From teaching classes at Luna Hill Farm in Indiana with a baby on my back a decade ago, all the diverse spaces our travels took us, John always by my side, to now in subtropical FL….I am grateful to have cultivated a Wild path for our family to be the change we want to see in this world 🫶 AJ

We still have a few openings for Village Days on Thursdays, but they’re filling up! So reach out if you have questions!

About Us

We are a family of six living the simple life here on our farm in the beautiful countryside of Plymouth, Indiana & we love to share in the process. We are passionate about Cultivating Community, Celebrating Curiosity, & Nurturing Wonder With Nature! John & Amanda Jo lead the year-round Luna Hill Wildschool on Wednesdays. We host & lead various events, such as yoga, kids classes, community gatherings, workshops, a monthly women’s circle- all in an effort to create an environment where folks of all walks of life can find community & enjoy in the process of learning & loving life, with others.

We plan to expand the Wild School in the Spring of 2020 & are working on getting our Round Barn in better shape so that we may hold events in this space! Lots more exciting ideas in the works!!!
