Legend has it that back in the 1800s, the governor suffered from migraines and decided to have all the buildings painted in bright colors to cut down on the sun’s glare. Another story claims he simply had a stake in the local paint store and saw an opportunity to boost business. You all know I’m a total Disney geek, and I can’t help but get overly excited when something new is on the horizon! If you follow Destination D23 you may have already seen some of these updates, but if not—don’t worry, I’ve got you covered with a quick rundown of what’s coming to our favorite Disney destinations.

First up, over at Walt Disney World, Carousel of Progress will be getting a magical new addition: an animatronic of Walt Disney himself! How amazing is that? And my personal favorite—Cinderella Castle will be getting a refreshed look, with a new color palette that brings it closer to the beauty of the original design. On top of that, plans are already in the works for a brand-new land at Magic Kingdom: a villains-themed land! This one has me especially excited, right alongside the castle updates.

Over at Disneyland, a new documentary will be premiering this winter on Disney+ and YouTube, celebrating the creation of Disneyland just in time for the park’s 70th anniversary. I’m already planning my popcorn for that one!

And let’s not forget about Disney Cruise Line! On the upcoming Disney Destiny, guests will be able to explore some truly unique new spaces, including The Sanctum, Haunted Mansion Parlor, and Cask & Cannon—each with its own larger-than-life personality. And one of the most exciting experiences onboard? You’ll actually be able to “Meet and Play” with Dr. Facilier himself! Picture him strolling through the ship, showing off his card tricks, and making new friends along the way.

There’s just so much magic on the way, and I honestly can’t wait to see it all come to life!
