😎 Summer Break is here, and our naturalists are going BONKERS with activities this week!! 🤩 We've got a Bike Ride on the Vandalia Trail (Amo trailhead) Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. 🚴‍♀️, a Creek Stomp at McCloud Nature Park on Wednesday at 1 p.m. 🆒, a Creature Feature at McCloud on Thursday at 1 p.m. 🐢, a Fishing Frenzy at W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park on Friday at 1 p.m. 🎣, and a Kids' Fishing Derby at Gibbs on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. 🐟!

And the total cost of each and every one of these activities? ZERO!! They're all FREE to attend! 🆓

We guess that's what we always do, but we're making it even easier to get your cat fixed--we're coming to your community, North Salem!

Registration is open to Hendricks County residents to get their cat fixed for $10!

A few things to note: Kittens must be at least 8 weeks old, a rabies vaccination is required for all cats over 12 weeks old (proof provided or given the day of surgery). Registered cats will be dropped off and picked up at the Eel River Township Community Center, 6 Main Street, North Salem, at 7:00 AM.

We’ve recently received inquiries about open burning. While Middle Township and the Town of Pittsboro do not have local burn ordinances, all open burning should follow State of Indiana regulations. Key rules are listed below. For full details, please visit:

Rule: 326 IAC 4-1-3(c)(1)
• Only burn clean wood, paper, charcoal, and clean petroleum products.

• Limit the volume of clean wood material to be burned to less than 1,000 cubic feet.

• If your pile is bigger than 125 cubic feet, provide the date, time, and location to the local fire and health departments at least 24 hours before burning.

• Only burn one pile at a time.

• Never burn within 500 feet of any fuel storage area or pipeline.

• Do not burn during high wind conditions or temperature inversions, when air is stagnant, or when an Air Quality Action Day

• Fires must be attended at all times and extinguished upon conclusion of the activity.

• Adequate firefighting equipment, such as a water hose, buckets of water, fire extinguisher, and/or shovels, must be kept on-site while burning.

• Fires must be extinguished if at any time they are causing a pollution problem, a threat to public health, a nuisance, or a fire hazard
