The UTRGV School of Medicine Student-Run Clinic recently brought together learners and community partners for a day of service in partnership with Proyecto Desarrollo Humano (PDH), a community-based organization serving the Rio Grande Valley, UTRGV School of Nursing, the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics and UTRGV American Medical Student Association (AMSA) pre-medical students.

Serving in the colonias offers learners valuable opportunities to gain hands-on experience while supporting underserved communities.

The interprofessional collaboration also strengthens connections among UTRGV programs and community partners.

Today, Gleb Dudin, a senior at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, defeated the current World Chess Champion Gukesh Dommaraju at the Chess Olympiad 2026, that is taking place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The UTRGV School of Medicine is hosting its 2nd Annual Research in Action: Partnering with Our Community Forum on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, at the UTRGV Community Engagement and Student Success Building in Edinburg.

The forum will highlight cancer and health research taking place in the Rio Grande Valley, with a focus on projects developed in partnership with the community.

Event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the UTRGV Community Engagement and Student Success Building (ECESS), Room 1.300, 1407 E. Freddy Gonzalez Dr., Edinburg.
