Not because I am ashamed of who I am,
but because I carried too much pain in silence.

Don’t be like me
the one who stayed when I should’ve walked away,
who endured when I should’ve spoken up,
who hid the ache just to keep the peace.

Be braver.
Choose freedom over fear.
Speak when it hurts.
Leave when it breaks you.

But take with you the love I held onto
the love that kept me going, even when it hurt.
Take that,
but build a life lighter than mine.

That’s my only prayer for you.
