❄️ Edmonson County — will we see snow? ❄️

The National Weather Service is tracking snow showers Friday night into Saturday for our area. While chances for heavy accumulation are low, brief bursts of snow could bring a dusting and slick spots, especially late Friday night and early Saturday.

Cold temperatures are expected to linger into early next week.
👉 What do you think, Edmonson County?

Will we see snow on the ground — or just cold air? Drop your guess in the comments!

House Bill seeks return of driver’s license services to counties

JOBEnews

FRANKFORT — Legislation filed in the Kentucky House of Representatives aims to restructure the state’s driver’s license system by returning issuance and renewal services to individual counties.

House Bill 162 would end Kentucky’s current regional driver’s license office model, which supporters say has resulted in long wait times, overcrowded offices, and increased travel burdens for residents across the Commonwealth.

The bill has multiple cosponsors, including Representatives Felicia Rabourn, Steve Doan, Candy Massaroni, Mark Hart, Josh Calloway, Richard White, Ryan Dotson, Thomas Huff, Peyton Griffee, TJ Roberts, Steve Bratcher and puctured Savannah Maddox.

Supporters of the legislation note that for decades driver’s licenses were issued at the county level by circuit clerks, a system they say provided more accessible and efficient service, particularly for rural communities. They argue the regional model has reduced local accountability and access to essential services.

House Bill 162 will be considered during the current legislative session.

Pam Poynter, age 61, of Glasgow, departed this life at home, with her family by her side, on Monday, January 5, 2026. A Barren County native, she was born on February 21, 1964, to the late Harold Thomas Esters, Sr., and Elizabeth Pauline Fields. She was married to her devoted husband, Doug, who survives her.
Pam was the very definition of a nurturer, living out her calling through many years of devoted service as a nurse in local hospitals. She cared for others with gentleness, patience, and unwavering compassion, always placing their needs before her own. Proverbs 31:10–12 so beautifully reflects the life she lived: “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need for spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.” Pam embodied these words through her faithfulness, strength, and selfless love.
She had a heart of gold and a spirit that radiated kindness, touching everyone blessed enough to know her. In her quieter moments, Pam found joy in scrapbooking cherished memories, watching God’s magnificent sunrises and sunsets, and traveling to see the beauty of His creation. Above all else, her greatest joys were her deep love for her church family and the precious role she cherished most—being “Nana” to her beloved grandchildren. Pam was a member of Coral Hill Baptist Church, where her love for the Lord and for others was clearly evident. Her legacy is one of love, faith, service, and compassion—a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Besides her husband, Doug, she leaves to honor her memory— her children, Rachel Renner (Torey) of Glasgow, Josh Poynter of Lucas and Jacob Poynter (Alyssa) of Scottsville; her grandchildren, Aubrey Massey, Clayton Cross, Waylon Carmen, Tucker Massey, Courtney Poynter, Paxton Poynter, Zella Poynter, Zoey Poynter and Denver Poynter, and her sister, Hope Atnip (Charles). She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Courtney Poynter, and siblings, Linda Marie Billa, Belinda Thomas Miller and Harold Thomas Esters, Jr.
The interment will be in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Courtney Poynter Scholarship Fund.
