The Kraken is saddened to share this post with our followers. Dolly Parton was one of a kind, and she will be missed, but her music lives on.

Dolly Parton, who rose from a loving if impoverished upbringing in the mountains of East Tennessee to become the “Queen of Country” music, a Hollywood star, and a beloved American icon, has died, her family announced.

Parton was 80.

Her death came after Parton suddenly announced in May 2026 that she was canceling a Las Vegas show and said she'd been undergoing treatment for kidney stones for several years.

Because of your incredible energy, your laughter, and your generous support, we are closer to officially hitting the airwaves on WBWK 95.7 - The Kraken. You showed up, you brought the noise, and you proved once again that this community has the greatest voice around.

A great big thank you to our phenomenal queens, our local partners, and every single one of you who bought a card, daubed a number, and helped us keep the dream alive. We couldn’t do this without you.
