Question 3 seems to be a solution searching for a problem.
It is (perhaps, intentionally) vague and could present members of the Bar to argue about not only animal welfare laws but ordinances and laws on the local and state level regarding waste management and ground water issues.
Do we really want to go there?
Vote "No" on Question 3.
For nearly 150 years, MSSPA has been vitally concerned with the welfare of Maine equines and all Maine animals. That's why the Board of Directors and leadership of the Society say . By amending Maine's constitution, Question 3 elevates the right to consume the food of your choice over all other concerns, including animal welfare. This could allow someone to argue that Maine animal welfare laws don't apply to them or to any of their animals, including horses. If Question 3 is approved, Maine's strong animal welfare laws will be gutted, leaving thousands of Maine animals without the protection they need. Please join MSSPA and !
