My last full day sailing with VIVA Cruises brought me to tulip paradise, Keukenhof Gardens!

Keukenhof is one of the world’s largest and most famous flower gardens. Known as the "Garden of Europe," it spans 79 acres and showcases around 7 million flower bulbs including iconic Dutch tulips, as well as daffodils, hyacinths, and other spring blooms. We had less than two hours to explore and I think I saw just a quarter of the park!

Tulip season runs from late March to mid-May, but the weather truly decides when blooms peak. This year, an uncharacteristically warm spring meant the surrounding fields had already been harvested. Still, wandering Keukenhof’s lush gardens was gorgeous and I’m so glad I got the chance to visit.

Yesterday felt like stepping into a Dutch painting. We started with an excursion to Kinderdijk, where we gazed at rows of historic windmills from both land and water and then got to go inside one! Video to come later 😉

In the evening, a few of us went out on our own to explore Dordrecht, one of the Netherlands' oldest towns, where there was a festival celebrating National Liberation Day. We even ran into our guide, Sven, from Kinderdijk!
