Payson, Arizona is your ultimate spot if you want to spend some time in nature 🌲

It’s the cutest little town only 2 hours away from Phoenix

Hike to Water Wheel Falls
Explore other trails by the river and creeks
Fish at Horton Creek
Soak in the phenomenal Mogollan Rim views
There are so many good, local mom & pop restaurants to choose from
Visit Tonto Natural Bridge State Park

Camp or rent a local Airbnb and enjoy morning views of the elk

It can be chaotic, but trying my best to live in the moment. I don’t want to “just get through” these years. I want to soak up every minute of them and walk out with vivid memories of smiling faces and new experiences through a child’s eyes 🥹❤️

Full & honest opinion/review -

The ride there was smooth. We left promptly at 4am so the kids slept the majority of the first 4-5 hours. Then we were all energized enough, we stopped a lot and we arrived to our destination at 6pm. It was fine.

The ride home however was a totallyyy different story. We left at 11am and arrived at 2am. It was long, brutal, and miserable.

Would I do it again? Probably not. I’ve always capped our road trips with kids at 8 hours and think I’ll stick to that same rule in the future. I wish I would have booked a hotel halfway home.

Hope this helps your future road trips with little ones 🫶 learn from our mistakes 😅😂

but let me be very clear - it was worth it, we loved the trip and it wasn’t THAT bad. I just think it could have been easier and smoother with a halfway stop.

This has been on my bucketlist for years and it lived up to every fantasy I had about visiting 🥹🙏 It’s also one of the best whale watching spots in Cali! 🐋

You might know this small little coastal town from the movie The Birds!
